Moments of Solitude & Reflections

Moments of Solitude & Reflections

Tip #15

Quote:

“Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away.”

Bible verse:

“And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while” For many were coming and going, and they had leisure to even eat.”

As women, wife, and mothers, we often find ourselves, giving more off ourselves than what we have to spare. It is essential for anyone who is trauma survivor to learn how to create balance in their lives as women, mothers, wife, and Christians. You have the ability to say no, to some things that are asked of you as not to overextend yourself. You can do this by practicing setting boundaries and evaluating what is truly a priority in your life at that present moment, then create a daily task list that will help you manage all of your tasks according to order listed. This will help, so that you do not become scattered or forget to fulfil some of the responsibilities listed. Just as important is taking time for yourself and when I say time for yourself, I call this “my alone time,” a time of self-reflection and of creating moments of solitude. Moments in which you can reconnect with yourself and care for your body, mind, and spirit. This alone time also include taking time to exercise to better be able to maintain your body in a healthy state of being. Let me remind you that your mind needs rests as well so taking time for adequate rest and sleep is essential to having this balance and to maintain a healthy mind. Short naps are also helpful as they refresh your mind, it is recommended to take a 30-minute nap during the day, so that it does make you feel groggy, fatigue or worse than before taking the nap. You also must take time for your spiritual connection with God, and like the bible verse states, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” this requires this separation from the world to a prayer closet or designated room in which you have set aside to pray. Prayer creates reenergizing of your spirit and mind by renewing of the mind through God’s word. And finally, these moments of solitudes also require taking time for your personalized care, hygiene, and wellness. For example, like a relaxation massage, doing your hair, nails or perhaps treating yourself to a new clothing item. Also, self-reflection by writing in a journal your thoughts, ideas or highlights of your day is also beneficial and healthy. When was the last time that you took time for yourself? If you can take one step today that will help you create balance, what will it be? @ClaribelCoreano
